Document card condition before a trade

Create a clear, date-stamped condition record that helps both parties discuss the same item.

Reviewed 2026-08-01

Photograph the actual card

Use current photographs of the front, back, corners, edges, and any known defects. Stock images cannot document the condition of a unique item.

  • Use even, neutral lighting
  • Include close views of defects
  • Keep the original image files

Describe without grading promises

Use observable facts such as whitening, scratches, dents, creases, centering, or surface marks. Do not imply a guaranteed third-party grade.

  • Separate your opinion from visible facts
  • Name alterations or cleaning if known
  • Confirm language both parties understand

Retain the agreement

Save the final description, photographs, messages, tracking information, and date. Records help resolve later misunderstandings.

  • Confirm the exact card and version
  • Document shipping and packaging
  • Pause if material details remain unclear
