Collector guide
Document card condition before a trade
Create a clear, date-stamped condition record that helps both parties discuss the same item.
Reviewed 2026-08-01Photograph the actual card
Use current photographs of the front, back, corners, edges, and any known defects. Stock images cannot document the condition of a unique item.
- Use even, neutral lighting
- Include close views of defects
- Keep the original image files
Describe without grading promises
Use observable facts such as whitening, scratches, dents, creases, centering, or surface marks. Do not imply a guaranteed third-party grade.
- Separate your opinion from visible facts
- Name alterations or cleaning if known
- Confirm language both parties understand
Retain the agreement
Save the final description, photographs, messages, tracking information, and date. Records help resolve later misunderstandings.
- Confirm the exact card and version
- Document shipping and packaging
- Pause if material details remain unclear
